This course will prepare you to become a professional counsellor and help you make a real difference to the mental health wellbeing of others. There is an increasing demand for counsellors to work in the health sector, voluntary and community sector and in private practice. This course will prepare you to become a professional counsellor and support others in managing issues and improve their quality of life.
In completing the Foundation Degree in Counselling you will attain profesisonal counselling status in the eyes of Professional Bodies associated with counsellors operating in the U.K. (B.A.C.P.) This vocational foundation degree is a pathway not only into profesisoanl practice but also into higher level academic study.

Teaching methods include seminars, group work, presentations, debates, and observed counselling skills practice. You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including: written essays, case studies, a reflective journal, individual and group presentations, internal supervision, self, peer and tutor assessment of skills. You will also be required to complete a work placement of a minimum of 100 hours supervised counselling practice.
You will be required to complete a 100 hr supervised counselling placement at a local counselling service provider. As a volunteer counsellor will be required to be subject to a DBS check before engaging in a practice setting this is in line with professional standards.
