What’s it all about?

The HNC in Computing is designed for students who have completed Level 3, A-Levels or an Access to HE qualification in computing or a related field who are either working during the day or are looking to study part time.

The course is made up of assessments which prepare learners for the world of work or further study on completion of this course.

Students will focus on Project management, software development, website design and development, networking and cyber security. This course gives students an overall grounding with theory lessons and practical lessons taking place which best prepares all students for their desired destination on completion of the course.

To be accepted onto this course you need to have achieved the following:

GCSE A* - C or 9 - 4 for Maths & English
BTEC Level 3, A-Level or Access to HE in Computing or a related subject where you have obtained 48-64 UCAS points.

Throughout the course students will have the support of their lecturers to help with the course development as well as doing practical, theory and group projects this gives a real taste of what industry will expect students to do once in work placements.

Lessons are made up of theory presentations and practical presentations of the skills needed within industry or further study to be able to succeed.

Students will also develop the softer skills which employers need such as presentation skills, communication and problem solving.

Students who attend this course should have obtained GCSE or Functional Skills Maths and English.

There is no placement included on this course however we do encourage students to gain some element of work experience to be able to enhance their knowledge.

It is expected that as well as attending to study at the campus you will also spend time outside of college doing additional study as well as report writing and completing group projects.
