All teaching will take place in the classroom, field trips and work-based learning. You will be assessed by a variety of methods, including reports, interviews, presentations and academic posters.
You will have opportunity to engage with a variety of public services including the Police, Prison Service, Fire & Rescue, and Armed Forces.This can involve listening to guest speakers and taking part in external visits and mock interviews.
12 hours per week on campus - 35 hours total study time.
Monday: 9am - 4:30pm
Wednesday: 9am - 12.15pm
Thursday: 9am - 12.15pm
This course is for people who wish to further skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to make a real difference nationally and in local communities with a successful career in the public services sector.
You will study a variety of topics on this course, including Organisational Structure and Culture, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Equality, Diversity and Fair Treatment, Public Services in Contemporary Society, Law and Legal Systems, Training for Fitness and Health and Psychology of Behaviour.
All modules support students in enhancing skills, knowledge and behaviours for public services employment and education.
You could progress to a HND in Public Services. From there, you could study a BA (Hons) top-up degree in a related subject to gain a full honours degree or you couldprogress straight into employment in Civil Protection, Crime and Criminal Justice, Public Service Management or the Blue Light Services.
Career opportunities could include the following: Officer in the Armed Forces, a Police Officer, or work in Fire & Rescue, Ambulance, Prison and related services, among many more.
