The North East has a growing digital sector and this course is designed to give students the skills to progress into further study and then later into industry. As part of the programme students will develop a range of skills and create a portfolio showing a wide selection of skills including software development, mobile app development, website development, networking projects, engineering automation systems plus much more.
This course will take place at Bede Campus and students will have access to the state of the art Digital Innovation Centre.
4 GCSEs, at Grade 3 (D) and above including Math's and English at grade 3 (D) or above.
Alternatively you may be studying a Level 1 or Level 2 course at present and are looking to progress.
During this course students will be taught in a range of methods which will include theory lessons and practical lessons to be able to develop the skills which the digital industry requires.
In addition to this students will assessed in a range of methods which will include Exams, Written assessments, practical assessments, Presentations, demonstrations plus more.
By the end of this course students will have a portfolio created which can demonstrate their skills to industry professionals.
Students on this programme may need to study Maths and / or English as part of this programme if this has not been achieved at GCSE (Grade 4 - 9) or Functional Skills Level 2. This will be discussed at interview.
There is no placement as part of this course however if you wanted to gain some work experience we would support with this.
During this course students will benefit from industry taking part in live assignment brief projects, guest speaker slots, guest lecturers and visits into industry.
During this course students will be expected to spend time completing assignments and projects during the course and also spend time studying essential skills (where needed) including Maths and/or English.
As part of this course you will receive membership to Digital Union who are based in the north east and will give links to local employers.
Students will be on campus for a selection of days and will have lessons which will range in times from 9am - 5pm. Within this students will have a range of lessons which will include Digital Lessons, English and Maths (where applicable) plus development of skills and behaviours for the Digital industries.

This course is designed to support students to be able to progress onto our Level 3 Digital specialist pathway. This is a unique course which gives students a range of skills needed for the current and future digital climate.

After completing this course you can progress onto our Level 3 Digital Specialist course which will give you skills in a range of technical areas including Cyber Security, Software Development, Project Management, Data Analytics to name a few.
